The iPad may produce an error message along the lines of "Internet Connection Is Offline," "Network Error" or "Wi-Fi Connection Is Not Available" if there's an Internet service connection problem. The message means the iPad can't connect to the Internet. The message can pop up when the iPad attempts to use Wi-Fi or cellular service and could be the fault of any device or service in the network setup.

Troubleshoot the IPad

  1. The iPad itself could be the culprit of the failed Internet connection because of a bad setting or a hardware malfunction. Make sure the Wi-Fi option is turned on in the "Settings" menu and the iPad is within range of the access point. Confirm that the cellular option is turned on in Settings as well on cellular-equipped iPads. Turn off Airplane Mode, which disables all wireless communications for the device. Apple recommends you restart the iPad when you have network connectivity issues and then reset it by holding the "Sleep/Wake" and "Home" buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds if the restart doesn't resolve the problem. Instructing the iPad to forget its default connections and then reconnecting the device to the Wi-Fi network may also fix the error.

Troubleshoot the Connection

  1. Restarting local routers and modems at your office can work around many Internet connectivity errors. Check the modem's indicator lights to see if the Internet connection is online. If the connection is down, the iPad will produce offline error messages. Faulty hardware such as bad cable splits can also cause rolling service outages.
