What is a good price for a 1/2 cow?

Each animal differs because each animal does not weigh exactly the same, but the cost of half a cow from us is $1,000. After factoring in the butchers fees, ($400-$500) you can expect to pay between $1,400-$1,500 on average.

Is buying half a cow worth it?

Buying half a cow is definitely worth it in the long run. The meat lasts up to 2-3 years if it's not defrosted or if the vacuum-sealed package is not punctured or compromised.

How much does it cost for 1/4 cow?

A quarter beef will have a total cost of $1100 to $1250 and will yield between 110-130 pounds of beef. A quarter beef will generally use 4 cubic feet of freezer space. The price is an all included $5.65 per pound on the hanging weight with the average hanging weight being between 200 and 225 pounds.

How many coolers do you need for half a cow?

You'll need 2 large plastic coolers for every ¼ cow purchased so plan accordingly. The beef will come fully frozen so if necessary, you can pack it into plastic totes with a lid (the ones used for storage and organizing) and then put it straight into a freezer once you get home.
