I have been having a crazy hard time finding any information on this. It certainly seems as though my wife's 2010 3.8L is leaking from the lower gasket. I cleaned the whole oil pan area off last oil change and yesterday I did the next oil change an noticed that it only appears wet around the lower portion. Her car does go through oil, maybe a quart every 1000 miles.

I can't find this part listed on any of the sites. Does anybody know where to find the lower oil pan gasket for a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.8L?

There is no factory gasket, you use RTV, here's an old thread about oil pan leaks: 2008 Town and Country 3.8 Oil leak.

This is a quote from that thread:

from the service manual:

NOTE: This engine uses a two-piece oil pan.
RTV is used between the upper and lower pans.
The lower pan should not be separated from the upper pan unless this junction is leaking.

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
Remove the engine oil dipstick.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Drain engine oil.
Remove drive belt splash shield.
Remove the seven structural collar bolts (2) and structural collar (1).
Remove the upper oil pan bolts (4), oil pan (3) and gasket.

The recommended RTV is Mopar(R) Engine RTV GEN II

Thanks for the quick response. Now I know why I haven't been able to find a gasket.

Would the upper and lower pan bolts have the same torque? It notes 8.75 ft./lbs in the old thread, but doesn't mention which pan that's for.

Hey falconut, did you ever follow the old thread on your wife's 2010? Just wondering, because I have an identical leak. The Chrysler dealership I take it to for service stated it was the "oil pan baffle gasket"....

Have not gotten around to reparing it yet as it barely consumes much.

Don't think I had an old thread on her car, I was referring to the old thread posted above. I used a cleaner last old change and removed all the oil/road residue of both pan areas. When I checked it, only the lower pan gasket area had the oil/residue, so I'm assuming it's the lower gasket. No idea what the oil pan baffle gasket is.

These are for the upper pan (aluminum). I was looking for the gasket for the lower (steel) pan, but there apparently isn't one for this item.

See attached diagram. Oh and Item 3 is Oil Pan, includes both upper and lower. If this pan wasn't close to $300, I would probably just swap it. I'll check the bolts to make sure they're not loose before I start to pull the pan.

Okay guys, I'm a newbie...tear me to shreds! The 4th gen 3.8 just had the typical stamped steel oil pan attached to the block. The 5th gen 3.8 has what appears to be a strengthening girdle added between block and pan. At least it looks like what I've seen on small block Fords. However, on closer examination, is this a spacer and adapter to allow this engine to mate to the 62TE 6-spd transaxle? My daughter-in-law's 4th gen oil pan doesn't leak. My 5th gen appears to be leaking from top and bottom faces of the aluminum 'spacer'. It also appears to be weeping slightly from the dipstick. Is there an O-ring on the dipstick tube? So are you saying that

IF

I figured out how to drop the pan & 'spacer', there isn't a proper gasket available?

Thank you invader for the clarification on the available gasket for the block to spacer joint and about dipstick tube. Would you please educate me on the actual purpose of this spacer? How it came about and is it used with all the transversely mounted 3.8 engines?

Beside including the oil pan's windage tray, it may be there for added crankcase rigidity and/or noise suppression?

The service manual only shows 105 inch pounds for "oil pan bolts", it does not specify upper or lower, perhaps it is the same for both.
