There seems to be a lot of confusion about camshaft vs crankshaft position sensor locations on the internet. Let me clear it up for you, replace them BOTH! Just buy both from the start. Just like head or tail lights, one doesn't last long once the other's been replaced. The CAMSHAFT sensor is usually found on the LEFT side of the engine. The CRANKSHAFT sensor is the one behind the RIGHT side of the engine. The cam sensor is the one with the U-shaped bolt hole, while the crank sensor has a closed circular bolt hole. The cam sensor has wire attached to it, where the crank sensor does not. The bolt hole on the cam sensor is parallel to the sensor, the bolt hole for the crank sensor is at an angle from the sensor and the connector housing makes the part L-shaped. Most of the vids I've seen on YouTube that refer to the cam sensor are, in fact, the crank sensor, which is another reason I stress replacing BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. If you think you're pulling the cam, only to find out it was the crank, you'll have the part on hand. Work smarter, not harder! I'm posting this because I wish this info had been available to me before I pulled the crank instead of the cam and subsequently had to go buy the crank sensor too. The cam is by far the more expensive part, so just grab the crank the first time you go to the parts store and you'll save yourself a lot of trouble. After-market or not, in this case, the part you pull should look exactly like the new part. Cam - felt tip, U-shaped bolt hole, wires attached to it. Crank - metal tip, circular bolt hole, L-shaped, no wires attached. I hope this was helpful to someone else.

Chrysler 2.4 crankshaft position sensor is bolted in lower engine block, behind the engine (engine side facing the vehicle's firewall) look above the oil filter adapter from under car. Crank sensor held/secured by a bolt, remove bolt and sensor will come out with a little pull/twist force. Links below show the location and how to test crank sensor. Good luck.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.
