Having American friends, I knew how much The Cheesecake Factory meant to them and how good it was. So when it opened in Beirut while I was still in London, I was eager for the chance to try it and see what all the hype was about. So, on a sunny Sunday afternoon, my family and I decided to go and give it a try. I can say I was not disappointed.

The Cheesecake Factory in Verdun, Lebanon.

We were greeted with big smiles and cheerful hellos and shown to a big airy table that could sit seven, so our family of five sat comfortably. Our waiter appeared and introduced himself, handing us the menu and gave us time to decide. However, what sat in front of us was a novel. With three pages of appetisers, a never-ending compilation of main courses, a list of 28 cheesecakes (I counted) plus other desserts, we took our time exploring the range of cuisine the restaurant had to offer. It took us a good 15 minutes to finally decide what we wanted to order.

Buffalo Wings

We thought that by keeping it simple during the appetisers, ww would leave room for our main meals. But what came astounded us. The nachos loaded with cheese, guacamole, salsa, and sour cream were delicious and some of the best nachos I had ever tasted. The buffalo wings were juicy and tasty, also very good. Once they were demolished, I didn’t think I could eat anymore. I surprised myself.

Bang-Bang Chicken and Shrimp

I ordered the Bang-Bang Chicken and Shrimp and what I can say is I was not disappointed. A pool of chicken and shrimp in a curry coconut sauce surrounding a mountain of rice. It was delicious and creamy, as well as sweet and chilli. I momentarily forgot I was at The Cheesecake Factory and thought I was at a Thai restaurant. The portion size was also huge, I finished most of the rice and all of the chicken and shrimp pieces but was stuffed by the end of it. The other members of my family agreed, some not even able to finish their plates.

Nope, not a cheesecake, but a Godiva Chocolate Brownie Sundae!

After much deliberation (and disappointment), we were all much too full to order a cheesecake or two, knowing how big the potion sizes were. So opting for a sundae to share, it gave us the sweet kick we needed. Rich chocolate brownies sandwiching layers of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream, drizzled in chocolate sauce and crushed almonds. Heaven on a plate you could say. It was a brilliant end to a brilliant meal.

Out of a five star rating, I would give The Cheesecake Factory Beirut a 4 out of 5. The service and staff were impeccable and friendly, even giving us a free slice of cheesecake to take home with us. However, the portion sizes were a bit too big and took away from the enjoyment of the meals. Due to this, I’m sure there is a lot of wastage. If you are in Beirut and do fancy giving it a try, make sure you are starving because then you could go and finish the portions and enjoy your meal.

Thank you for a wonderful afternoon The Cheesecake Factory, I will definitely be back to finally try a cheesecake! Have you been? Let me know in the comment section below.
