My little pony a new generation tv show

A series and two specials for Netflix and a weekly YouTube series will all roll out later this year, paving the way for a new US toy range.

Hasbro’s My Little Pony is ready to ride into a big content year, with a new series and two specials for Netflix and another series for YouTube all slated to debut in 2022.

Netflix has ordered My Little Pony: Make Your Mark (pictured), an eight x 22-minute series about five magical ponies taking on new adventures. With CG animation courtesy of Atomic Cartoons, the show will debut in September. Netflix is also rolling out a 44-minute same-same special in May to tee up the series. And a second special called My Little Pony: Winter Wishday launches on November 21.

Gillian Berrow (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic) developed the Make Your Mark series and new specials, with Cort Lane (Spidey and His Amazing Friends) executive producing and Willian Lau on board as supervising director.

Netflix has been leaning into My Little Pony content, picking up eOne’s August-launching My Little Pony movie, and ordering a new original series called My Little Pony G5 in February 2021.

For its part, Hasbro has been busy building out its equine franchise since acquiring eOne in 2019, calling on the Canadian studio put more My Little Pony content into its pipeline. And the strategy seems to be working: Hasbro saw a 76% revenue jump in its entertainment segment to US$327 million in Q3 2021, driven by the new film My Little Pony: A New Generation.

In a bid to reach kids online as well as on TV and cinema screens, the company is also rolling out weekly YouTube series My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale, the first episode of which drops on April 7. A new five-minute ep of the 2D-animated series will be released each week after that on My Little Pony’s YouTube channel. Malaysian animation studio Lil Critter Workshop produced the 70 episodes, with Gretchen Mallorie working on scripts as head writer and story editor, and David Flack serving as creative producer.

Tying into the new content, Hasbro is also gearing up to debut a toy line that will include mini figures, playsets and travel accessories when it hits US shelves in the coming months.
