La quinta inn & suites by wyndham tampa central

Several guests love that the La Quinta Inn & Suites Irvine Spectrum is a piece of history as it is a bean and grain mill converted into a fabulous hotel. Kids especially thoroughly enjoyed the rustic but modern warehouse and loved all the pictures of the history that the building holds displayed in the lobby of the hotel.

positive:

Warm and friendly staff

Guests found the staff of the hotel warm and friendly. They liked that there were eateries within walking distances. Two restaurants were across the parking lot which guests said were great for casual dining. There was a fast food joint across the street as well.

positive:

Great gym and pool

Many of the guests appreciated the amenities of gym and pool of the hotel. The gym is in the basement and guests said that it was clean, private and climate controlled with everything needed for a workout present. The pool was spotless and guests enjoyed spending time in it.

Negative Reviews

Several guests had issues with the noises heard from their rooms. Trains pass next to the hotel, there is loud freeway noise, trash trucks are all over the place and there is noise from cars when parked in the parking lot.

Many guests complained that the rooms were dirty. The biggest downside in some rooms was the leaky air conditioning units which dripped all night and soaked part of the floor. The wetness also caused a bad odor in the rooms.

Though guests appreciate that the hotel is in a reformed grain silo, they were disappointed that the place is so rundown. Elevators were old and in need of repair, there were ants everywhere, paint was peeling off the shower ceiling, carpets were stained and the rooms smelt of the silo that it originally was.

Property and all was great! Front desk help/service was sad. 2 clerks, both with heads buried in computer screens. Neither acknowledged us when we arrived. We stood in front of them, as another customer entered…he was also ignored. As we stood there looking at each other, yet another couple came in. That couple was ignored as well until they picked something from the snack area and asked how to pay for it. They got the “I’ll be with you in a moment”. Finally, we were checked in. The bad customer service topic became the evening’s biggest conversation for some time after that…

Clean pool w strong jets in hot tub, good breakfast. —Room condition poor, lamp unstable/tilted, desk chair & side chair very rough shape! Pillows with quills sticking out! Toilet designed for a child or very short person! Workout room-stationary bike broken, seat adjustment not working! We paid full price expecting a comfortable stay, but not the case.

Great location next to Ridleys to walk over to the deli and buy a quick dinner. Great place to stay for our two dogs--easy and safe place to walk them. Beds very nice, breakfast was complete with waffles, omelets and plenty of other options, including decaf coffee!

For a small gambling town, I was surprised by how comfortable the accommodations and property are. Don’t hesitate to stay here.
