How to Use PayPal on Walmart.com

Shopping at Walmart.com and through the Walmart app, you can pay with credit cards, debit cards, gift cards, money orders, electronic checks, and PayPal. Follow these steps to use PayPal when checking out online:

1. Select the cart icon in the upper right-hand corner that indicates “check out.”
2. Follow the prompts to sign in to your Walmart account or create a new account and then fill out the necessary information for your preferred shipping option and shipping address.
3. When you reach “select payment method,” select the PayPal icon and select “proceed to PayPal.” You’ll be directed to the PayPal login page.
4. After logging in to your PayPal page, choose your preferred PayPal payment method (funds, credit card, debit card, or credit), and select continue.
   • Note: If you want to use your PayPal credit or debit card, you don’t have to specifically select PayPal. You can instead just insert the card number into the payment section.
5. PayPal will link you back to Walmart.com where you can review your transaction before officially placing the order.

How to Use PayPal in Walmart Stores

Walmart stores don’t support any in-store PayPal payment applications or mobile wallets like Samsung Pay that you can connect to your PayPal account. This is because Walmart has its own mobile wallet, Walmart Pay. Payment is made through this feature by letting the cashier scan a QR code on a customer’s phone screen. You cannot link your PayPal account directly to Walmart Pay, but you may connect your PayPal debit card to it.

However, that there are a few workarounds that you apply if you want to use PayPal in store. For instance, if you have a physical PayPal debit card or a PayPal credit card you can swipe it at the register. You can also use PayPal funds to buy a Walmart gift card online. Additionally, if you have a Walmart MoneyCard account, you can link your PayPal account to it and pay for goods at Walmart stores that way.

PayPal Debit Card

If you’re eager to use PayPal in physical Walmart stores, you can apply for a PayPal debit card. The PayPal debit card takes money from your PayPal account just as your bank debit card draws from your checking account. There are no fees to apply for or to use the debit card. You must have a PayPal account in order to receive a card.

You can use your PayPal debit card just by swiping at the register, or you can connect it to the Walmart Pay mobile wallet app and pay with the debit card through the app.

PayPal Credit Card

Very much like the PayPal debit card, you can apply for a PayPal credit card. You must have a PayPal account in order to apply. There are no annual fees, but unlike a debit card that draws from your account automatically, you pay off the charges when your billing cycle is over, much like any other credit card.

You can swipe your PayPal credit card at check out like you would any credit card, or you can link it to Walmart Pay. The process for using Walmart Pay works the same way with the PayPal credit card. Walmart Gift Cards

If you’re shopping on Walmart.com, you can use your PayPal account to purchase a Walmart gift card. There are no additional fees when you get a gift card, and shipping is free on orders over $50. You can also choose to purchase and print out an e-gift card instead. Once you’ve purchased a Walmart gift card, you can use it like any other payment method at Walmart.

Walmart MoneyCard

A Walmart MoneyCard functions similarly to a gift card or debit card; you load funds onto the card and then use the card to pay for your purchases. In order to do so, you must add the Walmart MoneyCard to your PayPal account. Keep in mind that because it is essentially a debit card, you need to add the Walmart MoneyCard as a bank account, not a credit card.

You can retrieve the information necessary to link the accounts (i.e. account number and routing number) by logging into Walmart’s MoneyCard website and following the protocol for making a bank transfer. Once your Walmart MoneyCard and PayPal accounts are linked, you may transfer money from your PayPal balance to your Walmart MoneyCard.
