Many of us don't know that Instagram also allows us to search our friends (even if we don't know their usernames) through the medium of phone number.

How to find someone on Instagram using phone number:

Step 1: First of all, save the person's mobile number in your phone's contact book as you can only find a person whose number is saved on your contact list.

Step 2: Open the Instagram app on your smartphone and go to your profile by tapping on the 'Profile' icon available at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Step 3: On your profile page, tap on the hamburger icon at the top right corner of the screen and select 'Discover people' option.

Step 4: Out of the two available tabs, select the' Contacts' tab to find people by phone number.

Step 5: Tap on 'Connect Contacts' and grant the permission to Instagram to start syncing contacts.

Step 6: Now you will see a list of contacts on your Instagram. Find the people you want to follow or tap on the follow all button to follow everyone available in the list.

How to link your Instagram account with your Facebook profile?

Step 3: Select a reason of deleting your account from drop-down menu right next to 'Why are you deleting your account'. The option to delete your account permanently will only appear after you've stated the reason for deleting it.

Step 4: Re-enter your password and click on 'Permanently delete my account'.

An account can be deleted permanently only when you are logged in to your account, so, if you don't remember your password, you can reset your password using your phone number, email address, or Facebook account.

Finding someone on Instagram via their phone number is so simple and easy. So if you don’t know how to do that, or if you have any problems finding the people who have Instagram and you have their number in your contact list, this article is for you.

First, let me talk about some different ways you can try and find people who use this platform. The easiest way is to look for the person’s name in the search bar. Of course, this doesn’t always work, since you may not be spelling their names correctly, or they may use something different than their real names. So this is not enough.

Sometimes Instagram may suggest to you the people who you might know. However, in most cases, this doesn’t happen.

Another easy way to find someone on Instagram is to connect your Facebook account through your Instagram. Since both of these social media are owned by the same person, you can use either of them to find your friends.

So if you have already synchronized one of these apps with the other, you will receive suggestions of your friends’ accounts that you can simply follow.

Another way that you can find someone is through hashtags. Usually, by hashtags, you may be able to find famous stuff or people on Instagram, but not probably the people or friends that you know.

4. Click “Search”
5. Click “Social Profiles“
6. Download the report

The second tool is Anywho.com which is again a reverse number lookup tools. However, none of these kind of tools mentioned that they show Instagram account, or they guarantee to do so. They just look for the number and gather all the information connected to that number including social profiles, pictures, relationships, addresses, etc.

Method 2: Connect your Instagram to your contacts numbers

The above mentioned tools are free, if you just want to see the name of the person. However, if you really want to find a person’s Instagram using their phone number for free, you should connect your Instagram to your contacts. Make sure you have saved that person’s number in your phone. follow the steps below:

Step by step, follow the following guidance.

1. Open your Instagram app
2. Tap your profile picture (go to your profile)
3. Tap three-lined (three-dots) icon on top right
4. Scroll down to find “Settings”.
5. Tap Follow and invite friends
6. Tap “Follow contacts”.
7. After you’ve done that, a new window like what you see in the photo will pop up. Tap on “Allow access”.

Here the app asks for your allowance. According to many available articles and sources here you will see a list or something that will show you the people who you know instantly. However, this is not true in 2022!

A couple of years back yes, but not now! According to Instagram, the app will recommend your contact list that has an Instagram account. In some cases, this doesn’t necessarily mean you will see your contact list right away. You will get recommendations on your device or in your feed from Instagram later on.

What happens afterward is that your Instagram account will connect to your contact list. If your contact list has an Instagram account and if they have done what you’ve just done, then you will be able to find them or they will be able to find you. Also, the app will show you many more suggestions aside from your contact lists. It seems that suggestions are based on what you may be interested in or simply they are your followers’ friends and stuff like that.

How to disconnect contact?

You have enabled a feature to be able to find an Instagram account or someone you know. How about disabling this. Is it possible to do so? Yes absolutely. For whatever reasons you may want to disable this feature or disconnect contact so that no one can find you by your phone number.

Here I’m going to show you how to do so.

• Go to the hamburger icon in your app. It’s like the previous section.

• Click on “Settings”

• Look for “Account”.

• Scroll down to where it says “Contact syncing” and tap it.

• Now tap on the blue section.
