I have a feeling that in making it more shatter resistant they were forced to make it less scratch resistant. Think about it: what if the screen was made of cheap plastic like a Tupperware container? it would be 100% shatter-resistant but scratch extremely easily. There is probably a physical trade-off for this property where it's very difficult to make a product that is both shatter and scratch proof. Yesterday my Spigen glass screen protector arrived. I went on and apply it, wiped the screen with the included wet wipe, then with the dry cloth. After I finished installing, I noticed a micro scratch right in the middle of the screen. Mind you, this absolutely did not exist before because I had a plastic screen protector on the whole time (I installed it incorrectly so I removed it). This scratch definitely happened by me wiping the screen. I guess there was some sand or something that got into the wipe and scratched it, I admit I was a little overenthusiastic with the wiping. Luckily it's hardly noticeable and my return period is up (2 weeks) so I'll live with it but take this as a caution. When you go buy an iPhone especially at an Apple store, tell them to install a screen protector right away.
