Tell us about it in our discussion forum. I will be flying to Sanford Airport in just under 3 weeks time, and going from the airport toDisney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. I was just wondering if it was better to get an Uber to the hotel (Quoted me about $50) or book a taxi through Mears (seems more expensive)? I don't really know how the Ubers work - are they just like taxis? Also on another note - do you need to print out your esta for presentation at the airport? Or can they look you up on the system? amanx UK Destination Expert for Florida Level 1. Re: Uber from Sanford? 7 years ago Save there are shuttle services too. Personally, I'drent a car. I would not use Uber myself esp if there is no backup, as they could decide not to turn up, or charge more. It is a long trip and $50 looks far too cheap to me. Add in the drivers are not registered or have proper background checks. And Uber has been declared illegal in many FL cities. Report inappropriate content
surffishFLA Orlando Level 2. Re: Uber from Sanford? 7 years ago Save Uber is not currently legal inOrlando unless they charge double the taxi fair. In Sanford, I am not sure. A taxi is going to be a lot, but Mears does have a fare estimator online. Sanford is a bit of a haul to Disney property. Report inappropriate content

Re: Uber from Sanford? 7 years ago Save It's like 50-60 miles from Sanford Airport toAnimal Kingdom Lodge which would equate to well over $100 one way in a metered cab. The Orlando airport (MCO) does NOT authorize ride sharing such as Uber which do not follow permitting requirements, the need to carry proper insurance, and background checks for drivers. And there is ongoing debate between them and the City of Orlando about their operation. While in other cities their base fare would likely be lower than a cab, the ordinance in Orlando is that the minimum should be the same that cabs use and they are supposed to get permits to operate. I really can't speak for Sanford Airport or Sanford. But no, it's not the same as a taxi. It's ride sharing. Instead of using a taxi stand or hailing a cab or calling a cab to be dispatched, you use an app. Someone in the area who is signed up to be a driver can accept your request and then picks you up in their own car. $50 sounds way to cheap from Sanford. You may have been accidentally quoted for Orlando/MCO although even that ride would probably be a little above $50 in a metered cab. I would highly suggest a rental car. Report inappropriate content

Re: Uber from Sanford? 7 years ago Save Thanks a lot for the replies - I will definitely avoid Uber services now that I know of the legal debates going on inFlorida! My boyfriend and I decided not to go with a rental car due to not being familiar with tolls, driving on the other side of the road etc - plus having to pay for parking at the hotels, insurance costs etc. Hopefully that was the right decision, we will see.. Re: Uber from Sanford? 7 years ago Save I think if you read experiences of those who have driven inFlorida that come from UK, I think you will find that rental car is your BEST BET. Tolls, insurances ( from UK point of view) are all covered in other posts on WDW forum or Orlando forums. And, if you are staying at Disney, you will not pay to park. Transportation from Sanford is expensive, and the cost of the car rental, will, in the long run, probably be less expensive. Report inappropriate content
tbholidaylover Edinburgh, United... Level 6. Re: Uber from Sanford? 7 years ago Save My only concern was that we are staying 1 week in Disney's AKL and 1 week in theHard Rock Hotel, so will have to pay for the parking there? I phoned my travel agent - we are entitled to free car hire, but would have to pay £266 insurance. We aren't really going to be going on any long distance drives, just trips to I Drive and the malls. Is it worth it for the £266 insurance? Report inappropriate content

We even had a 20 min grocery stop to pick up a few items. Here is a link from the Airports website that has a list of the companies and you can click on their websites. http://www.orlandosanfordairport.com/taxi_limo_shuttle.asp Report inappropriate content

goco_11 Glenrothes, United... Level 10. Re: Uber from Sanford? 6 years ago Save If you add up the cost just to and from the airport and to your Universal hotel I bet that will be 1/2 of your £266. Ok so parking for 1 week and few $'s for fuel. The pure convenience of having acar and the value of time you will save is in my opinion totally worth it. We tried the Disney transport for a couple of days and have to say on some occasions the time we waited on the bus we could have been at the park, getting more value for your park ticket. A trip to the Florida Mall by bus is inexpensive but takes much longer a half day shopping trip will be more like a day, time you could be spending doing something else To get the most out of your holiday a car is the best way to go, many people do without and have a good time and good on them, but add up the time spent travelling and I bet I get an extra day out of my vacation by using a car How much is taxi from Orlando airport to Sanford airport? The quickest way to get from Orlando Airport (MCO) to Orlando Sanford Airport (SFB) is to taxi which costs $90 - $110 and takes 38 min.
