KIT PART NUMBERS:
When you order, you will receive a 9 ft. kit of aluminum with two retainers, each at 4 ft. 6 in. (4'6"); or an 18 ft. kit with four retainers, each at 4 ft. 6 in. (4'6"). You will also receive a 4 in. T vinyl weather seal. The 9 ft. kit comes with one (1) 9 ft. long vinyl seal. The 18 ft. kit comes with one (1) 18 ft. long vinyl seal. We know that garage doors are not all the same thickness. To help you order the best kit for your application we have designed our kits to be used on doors of various thicknesses and widths. We offer 3 different thickness of retainers 1-3/8", 1-3/4", and 2". Then we break it down even further by offering single door kits which consist of enough retainer and seal to do a door up to 9' in width or a double door kit that will cover a door up to 18' in width. If your door is not exactly the size of our kits, they can easily be cut down to the size you need. The retainer can be cut with a handsaw and the seal portion can be cut with household scissors if needed. The vertical part is about 2 inches high, therefore this will not allow it to bend to conform to any differences you may have in your floor below where the door will close. When assembled, they meet in the middle with no affect on the seal coverage. But that might give you the opportunity to create some slight curvature to take up the gap created by the dip in the floor. It is aluminum, so it can probably take some reshaping, although it isn't going to give a lot. You may need to increase the number of mounting screws to help force it down to cover properly. Thinking about it some more, you could cut slots in the vertical if a more radical bend is needed. The track gasket would need to be approximately 1 to 2 inches longer than the wide of the door and you would tuck it back to fit. by Juan V a ANSWER: The real size is measure the width bottom of the "L" channel and order how long you will need of the gasket depend on how wide is your garage door. by thanh n a ANSWER: I am unclear what you are asking. As is shown in the ad on line, this is L shaped and fits on the bottom of the door. the door thickness will give you what size kit to order. My doors are on a commercial warehouse, so they are big. I got the 2" wide retainer. The door was pretty bent up. so I did the best I could in mounting the retainer. Once bolted in place, the seal slipped right in and it has held up well for a year now. by Don K a QUESTION: my metal door panel is 1 1/2 thick should i buy 1 3/8 or 1 3/4 retainer kit? by Thom p 9/13/2016 ANSWER: I would by the slightly narrowed one. The angle is really just a means to secure it to the door and hold the seal in place. The bulb does the actual sealing and being 1/8" narrower won't effect the bulb sealing action by RICH B a ANSWER: I would go with the 1 3/4. If it sticks out 1/4 inch on the inside you won't notice it. If you go 1 3/8 the bottom of your door won't be completely protected. If you live in a particularly hot or cold climate, we recommend upgrading from vinyl to an EPDM seal. It has the same look as vinyl, but it won't crack or stick in extreme temperatures (though unlike vinyl, EPDM only comes in black).
