N.C. REAL ID

If you are interested in getting a N.C. REAL ID enhancement for your North Carolina license or ID card, on the appointment scheduler, you will need to select one of the following choices:

  • Driver License – First time (you will be getting N.C. license for the first time)
  • Driver License Duplicate (you will be replacing your license)
  • ​Driver License Renewal (you will be renewing your license)
  • ID Card 

Please prepare before you go: When you arrive for yo​ur appointment, you will need to have all acceptable documents​ on-hand to get your N.C. REAL ID.

CDL Road Tests & Language Services​​

Those seeking a commercial driver license road test must call 919-715-7000 to make an appointment.​ These appointments cannot be made online at this time. 

Those requiring an ASL or language interpreter can request this service online​ or call​ 919-715-7000.​​

    To request a road test appointment (for commercial drivers), email the required form to the DMV

    Step 1: Pass a written commercial drivers knowledge test and get a commercial learner’s permit (CLP). The CLP needs to be held for 14 days prior to taking an on-the-road driving test. Learn more about commercial learner’s permits. 

    Step 2: Verify that you have completed the entry-level driver training (ELDT). Learn more about ELDT.

    Step 3: Complete the required form (above).

    Step 4: E-mail the required form to the Driver Education and Testing Unit at [email protected].

    Step 5: The DMV will confirm your appointment within 3 business days.

    Dealerships may use the DMV’s online system to register their customer’s new vehicle. These appointments are ONLY for dealerships that need to register their customers’ vehicles, and there are no in-person visits to the Dealer and Repairer Unit.

    No more than two appointments per day may be scheduled.

    Do you have to make an appointment to get your license in Illinois?

    Commercial Driver License holders not requiring a commercial road test (behind the wheel), or others simply needing road-test, Driver License or Identification Card services, please use the appointment button below. Seniors, expectant mothers and those with disabilities are always welcome as walk-ins.

    Can I go to NC DMV without appointment?

    All license plate agencies are walk-in only, according to NCDMV.

    Is Nevada DMV taking walk ins?
