    Hi all,

I’m looking for all you can eat conveyor belt sushi place recommendations. I know there are a few to choose from and was looking to hear what people thought. I do want the all you can eat rather than the pay per plate and would like to be able to order dishes as well. Price and location aren’t of much concern as much as verity and quality (I fully understand not to expect the best from AYCE).

Thanks so much for all your suggestions

        • Agreed 100%. Sakana is very good, as is Top Sushi on Sunset. It's not Masa, but it's very good, especially for the price. As someone who likes to just order a bunch of nigiri and some rolls, it fits the bill for sure.

          • Also, @DaiLun is probably our resident expert on this, so I'll defer to him.

My main preferences for sushi are generic rolls and nigiri, or outlandish stuff like the thing with Pop Rocks at Yellowtail, or the Hellfire Roll at Catch. I do not have the palate to appreciate the fancy stuff when it comes to sushi (and I say this as someone whose three favorite dishes are the foie gras steak at Picasso, the cotton candy foie gras at Bazaar, and the crispy shrimp and/or cauliflower at Catch). In terms of sushi, I just want fish, rice, and soy sauce.

Lots and lots of soy sauce.

            • Honest question -- what in the entire hell is that roll on the bottom which appears to include funfetti? I'm legitimately curious.

              • They don't specialize in sushi, but this place has long been on my list: https://www.chubbycattle.com/

                Just gonna put this here.

I don't believe that AYCE and conveyor belt are together, at least not in any sushi restaurant I've eaten at in the US or Japan.

AFAIK, AYCE is "made to order", and conveyor belt is "pay per plate".

I'd be glad to be corrected If someone else knows different.

Sakana is my "go to" for AYCE sushi. Nabe if I want sushi AND hot pot.

                • Konbea is both conveyor and AYCE, and there is another one east of the strip of which I cannot remember the name off the top of my head. I know at Konbea they have nigiri and rolls on the conveyor belt but a pretty substantial menu where you can order non-sushi and specialty items (they limit quantity per person on some of the specialty items). The one I cant remember the name of works the same but a few people say is better, but no idea what its called, just remember its east of the strip and north of the airport and south of Sahara

Thanks @MCann !! You learn something new every day!!

With sushi, I know what I want in an AYCE place:

1)Good fish/rice ratio (like Sakana or Nabe)
2)Yellowtail "everything" (nigiri, sashimi, hand roll)
                    3)Salmon, tuna, eel, salmon eggs
4)I'm not big on rolls. I like fish, not rice.

So, conveyor belt doesn't add anything that I need.

Read my review on Chubby Cattle. I found Nabe to be better because Chubby Cattle is ala carte and doesn't serve (much) sushi. Chubby Cattle specializes in hot pot. Nabe is AYCE and has sushi and hot pot.

                      • I believe it is called a “Lisa Lisa” Roll. It was actually pretty tasty, most likely due to the Yum Yum sauce, lol.

Inside-Shrimp Tempura, Avocado, Cucumber, Crab, Cream Cheese
Outside-3 Kinds of Tempura crumbs, yum yum & eel sauce

Not knocking it, I just have never seen anything like it. I eat all sorts of odd food all the time. Probably will skip because I haaaaaate cream cheese, but the coloring of the various crumbs was interesting to say the least.

                          • Yah, it’s definitely interesting. Every time we go we try a different one. That’s how we roll. *pun intended*

                          • Perhaps I'm the only fan here of Umiya, but it's among my favorite AYCE sushi anywhere (Vegas or otherwise). The yellowtail belly, the albacore, the salmon... all very good for AYCE, and you can do half rolls to save space for all the nigiri you want. It's not conveyor belt but sit at the counter and order from the chef in front of you and you get tons of good quality sushi for pretty cheap. They also have bacon-wrapped scallop skewers that I'm a fiend for.

The fish/rice ratio looks a little lower (larger rice balls) than Nabe or Sakana, but I'll give it a try next time I have a chance.

Why is conveyor belt sushi cheap?

In addition to this, Conveyor Belt Sushi is also much cheaper compared to Traditional Sushi. This is because Sushi can be prepared at a much faster rate compared to traditional sushi. For example, an extremely skilled sushi chef can roll and prepare about four sushi per minute.

How do you eat sushi on a conveyor belt?

Grab a pair of chopsticks and a moist towelette from nearby as well. These are other items that are typically provided at a station by your seat at conveyor belt sushi restaurants. Take a pair of chopsticks to eat your sushi with and wipe your hands off with the moist towelette before you start eating.

What is conveyor belt sushi called?

Kaitenzushi (回転寿司), also known as conveyor belt sushi or sushi train, is a convenient and affordable type of sushi restaurant characterized by the conveyor belt that winds through the restaurant. The conveyor belt carries plates of sushi past the diners, who can take whatever they wish.

How much is conveyor belt sushi in Japan?

The average is typically around 300–500 yen and there are usually a few pieces of sushi per plate.
