When I first heard about The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, I was a bit scared and skeptical. Something about the blood-like aspect of the bottle, altogether with the word ‘peeling’ scared the bejeezus out of me.  I was scared my skin would burn and get irritated, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. In this post, I will specifically talk about The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution and my experience with it (including purging). Did it clear my skin? Come find out! According to Ulta, the best way to describe the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is a 10-minute treatment mask that noticeably helps fight visible blemishes and improve the look of skin texture and radiance. How does The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% work?This solution blends together Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAS ) including glycolic, lactic, tartaric, and citric acids (30 %). According to Healthline, By removing dead skin cells from the surface, AHAs effectively reduce UV damage and dark spots that can appear on the skin after too much time spent in the sun without a good hat or broad-spectrum SPF. AHAs also reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. That high percentage of acids can be very irritating on the skin and if used incorrectly or too often can damage the skin barrier. In particular, if you have bumpy/congested skin (such as the one that the one the quarantine has ‘’gifted’’ me with – You know, those annoying under the skin spots that never seem to go away?). I was starting to panic with those bumps that made my skin bumpier every day. What Can You Expect During & After The Peel?The peeling solution itself tingles a bit after it’s applied (although I don’t really feel any tingling anymore), and will give your skin a pink coloring. After washing off the peel, you can expect your skin to be a bit pink; if your skin turns an angry, painful red, this peel is probably not for you! Which products does The Ordinary AHA 30% conflict with? What products can you use with it?Avoid using it with retinol or Vitamin C (which can be irritating on the skin). It is also best to avoid using any peptides like Buffet, Matrixyl, or Argireline. Instead, use a hyaluronic serum for hydration followed by your moisturizer and/ or oil. The following day (and the days afterward) always use a high SPF and try to stay out of the sun. Tanning the face is never a good idea. So if that was an old habit of yours, take this moment to get rid of it for good. Does The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution cause purging?Ahhh, the question you probably came here for is, does The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution cause skin purging? Skin purging, if you don’t know, is a process in which your skin breaks out when you try a new skincare product. Some products, such as Niacinamide and Retinol, accelerate the skin turnover process and can cause purging. This only means that pimples that would pop out sooner or later, come out all seemingly at once. This might seem scary, but skin purging is a good thing. Your skin is only speeding up the process to remove all that crap that is stuck deep within your pores. Yes, I warn you, it doesn’t look good (sorry). The good news, however, is that the purging effect on the skin is temporary. After a few weeks (yes weeks), and once these pimples have cleared up, your skin will look healthier and clearer than ever before in your life. When going through purging, many people wrongly believe their skin is having a bad reaction to a product. This leads them to stop using it before the skin has the chance to properly improve. So, did The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution cause my skin to purge?In all honesty, it is hard for me to say because I was using it with other The Ordinary products to work together to fight my acne (including retinol, which is famously said to cause purging). However, know this: when I bought all my The Ordinary skincare products, I had read many in many blogs that they could cause my skin to purge and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Hear me out (I’m not crazy): As previously explained, the reason I decided to et The Ordinary skincare products or acne was because of my quarantine breakouts. Seemingly overnight, my face was full of blackheads, texture, and pimples. After a few weeks of waiting, in the hopes my skin would improve because I was taking a break from applying makeup, the texture would only get worse. Do you know what I mean? Those pesky little bumps that take months to turn into a zit, while leaving your skin looking like crap. That is why I couldn’t wait to start purging all of these bumps out (even if that meant looking horrible for about a month’s time). Currently, I am at the end of week two. Did I have acne these past 2 weeks by using The Ordinary products?

When I am bare-faced, my skin has blemishes and pimples that are drying out (and others being born from purging). HOWEVER, now when I apply a bit of foundation, my skin looks AMAZING (especially when compared to before). The bumps are vanishing, the scars are healing, it is a miracle!! Lastly, as you may know, blemishes are harder to make go away. You must do continuous care (and aaaaaalways apply sunscreen). I am happy enough that the texture is smoother every day (and so are the blemishes). My Thoughts After Using The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling SolutionTruthfully, I was so tired of seeing those bumps on my cheeks and chin that I couldn’t wait for them to come out so my skin could be smooth again (even if this meant all at once). Currently, I have three huge sisters on my left cheek, and their two cousins resting on my chin and right cheek. But they do look better every day and the little bumps are magically disappearing too (every day more). I am no longer panicking when I check my skin (even if I have all these pimples) because ever since I started using TH products my skin feels MUCH MORE under control, smoother, and glowier. So yes, I do recommend you give this product a go. With it costing as cheap as 7 euros, there really is no harm in trying it out and see how your skin reacts (again, using all the precautions discussed in this post).
