Hi, I know this may be a silly question but are DSLR camera allowed in carry on bag for internationalflights? I don't wanna put my camera in my check bag in fear something may happen to it. I will be flying from NY to London with a connecting flight in Dublin. Just wanna make sure i can put my camera in my carry on bag. Report inappropriate content

I realize that doesn't answer your question. But what reason would there be to not allow them? Report inappropriate content

You just have to ensure that your camera and other accessories (additional lenses, speedlights, etc) when packed conform to the carry on rules of theairline you're flying. That can be tough with say a 7kg weight limit for the carry on and, in cases where no additional personal item is permitted. One of the things I always check before booking a vacation is the airline carry on policy as it could be a decider if I couldn't take the camera equipment I want to. Re: are DSLR Camera allowed in carry on bags? 7 years ago Save It would be extremely foolish to put a fragile and valuable DSLR camera into checked in or hold luggage. However as USB indicated it can be quite easy to go over the weight especially if you are carrying a second body or several lenses. My husband's kit now weighs about 8.5 kg which is a bit frustrating when we are flying with a 7 kg weigh limit. As we almost always travel as a couple I ensure that I have room (and weight) left in my allowance so that we can if necessary put something into my bag or else carry the camera as a personal item. We've only flown once (SQ) since he acquired the extra "stuff" and when it was discovered that his bag was overweight fortunately we were permitted to keep everything in the proper place in the padded camera bag rather than having to carry it separately. We are flying with Jetstar next month and I hope they will do the same but if not we will have a plan to deal with it. Report inappropriate content

Yes, and I would never think of putting my camera in checked in luggage, as said just check weight/size allowances for carry on and you will be fine. Report inappropriate content

Re: are DSLR Camera allowed in carry on bags? 7 years ago Save Without a doubt yes - can't imagine packing a DSLR (or lots of other things) in checked baggage. As others have noted, just make sure you are within weight limits. Report inappropriate content

I will only take the camera with the lenses it comes with, I don't want to bring to much and make my carry on exceed the weight limit. Again thank you :) Report inappropriate content
The_Loup_Garou Phoenix, Arizona Level 10. Re: are DSLR Camera allowed in carry on bags? 7 years ago Save Yes, but only so long as the bag fits within the airline's sizer, and for Europe and many other places, the weight is under that allowed. Do you have to remove camera at airport security?Keep It All Together
TSA may require you to scan your camera separately. Any portable electronic device, such as a digital camera, may go in a carry-on bag, given that it's screened. However, a TSA agent could request to inspect the camera more closely after the X-ray procedure.
