OVERVIEWThe Basement Watchdog Special Connect® is our most popular battery backup sump pump system. It incorporates most of the sought after features of premium level backup sump pumps. Providing 24 hour a day monitoring, it will protect your basement from a power outage, primary sump pump or float failure and provide extra pumping capacity when needed. It will sound an audible alarm and give a visual warning on the control box pinpointing needed maintenance or irregularities with the battery, pump, or power conditions. This system is part of the Basement Watchdog Connect® line, giving it the ability to communicate with a Basement Watchdog CONNECT® Module (WiFi module model# BW-WiFi or home automation module model# BW-HZM). When connected to the Basement Watchdog WiFi module, the system will send a text, email or a notification through the Basement Watchdog App to alert of any irregularities. I am looking to use this with battery only because power is not available for this project. I want to connect two batteries in parallel to give me more amperage. I am going to tie solar panels for charging purposes. My question is will it run if AC voltage is not there or will it turn on and off as water come in and raises the float? The battery and controller will be approximately 14' away inside the residence. Can I cut the control cable and splice the same gage wire to the inside location? Does the basement watchdog charge the battery?Use the Basement Watchdog control unit for charging a LEAD-ACID battery only. DO NOT use the control unit for charging dry-cell batteries that are most commonly used with home appliances.
How long do battery backup sump pump batteries last?As a general rule of thumb, during a power outage most new fully-charged batteries will last roughly 5-7 hours of continuous pumping and roughly 1-3 days of non-continuous pumping depending on the frequency.
