This has happened twice...

At start up, the radio is locked/disabled and asking me to enter in an "Anti Theft Code". If I drive, then restart it clears and the radio works normally.

I understand the new vehicle was SUPPOSED to come with a card in an envelope with that code. Mine did not and the dealership "says" that they have no clue about this card or where it is. They said the radio needs to bee re programmed but I am skeptical.

How do I get this code? Why does this happen in the first place?

Anyone else had this happen?

I got no card with a code. Sound like the dealer needs to reprogram it. Replace if necessary

Well I am glad to see that I am not the only one with this problem. I have had my Cherokee for 3 weeks now and this has happened 3 times to me. Has a resolution been found?

I ended up taking it to the dealership and they did an update or re-program. (I forget the word they used)

I admit, I was skeptical. I really did not want to have it serviced, I just wanted the code. They never were able to give me a code but they comped me a rental, did the update and the problem has not happened since.

Good luck! I hope this helps!

Look through your SiriusXM correspondence, look for Radio ID (ESN) 12345678, this seems to be the code.
Also go to channel zero (0) on the satellite radio, the pin is there someplace.
Never got any other code for my 2014 TH.

The Dealer gets the code by submitting the Radio serial number. Most will provide it as a courtesy after verifying ownership.

I'm having the same issue. I'll send you a message, Jeep.

My son’s 2019 Cherokee is doing the same thing and unfortunately it is out of warranty. Any updated suggestions?

Do the above, being out of Warranty has nothing to do with anything.
The worst that can happen is they will want money, surprise.

I also am having this issue. In just drive my 2016 Jeep Cherokee off the lot, pre owned, and the dealership has no clue what this code is or what to do about it. Is there a resolve that I am able to fix on my end?

See Post #8 above.
The PIN is supposed to be shown on Uconnect channel 0.
A Jeep dealer should be able to get the radio part number and serial number for the radio and get the PIN either from FCA or Uconnect.
Jeep Cares on this Forum can probably help.
While you are at it get the PIN for your keys, might be handy someday.
Uconnect needs to be reset to factory defaults. You need to get the Uconnect updates, not the previous owner.
FCA needs to know you are the current owner so you get the Recall notices.
I have not bought a used Jeep so I don't really know how all of this works but there are lots of used Jeep owners who should have figured it out by now.
Hopefully you have both keys and fobs. Hopefully the previous owner doesn't have the 3rd fob.
It will be expensive, but you could get your 2 fobs reprogrammed so that old 3rd fob won't work.
All bets are off in Jersey.
Good luck.

Hi Lovely2nj,
We were able able to locate STAR case S1908000125 that discusses concerns similar to those you're experiencing. We'd suggest sharing this STAR case number with your local dealer, as they're in the best position to assist with locating this code or reprogramming as necessary.

Where is the anti theft code on a Jeep Cherokee?

Most of the time, it's in your glove box. Once you find it, flip through it until you find something that reads “Anti-Theft Radio Code.” Remember, you're looking for just a four-digit code here.

How do I get the anti theft code for my Jeep?

You can find this serial number on the anti-theft identification card usually placed in the glove box at the time of purchase. You can also find the serial number of the radio on the screen of your Jeep radio itself.

How do you reset the anti theft code on a Jeep Cherokee?

Press and hold the "Unlock" button on your remote, and then press and hold the "Panic" button while still holding "Unlock." Hold both buttons together for one second and release.
