Hey everyone.
Has anyone had any issues with their 2016 Civic not recognizing the USB ports?
My car won't recognize my Ipod or my Iphone 6 anymore when I plug them in via the USB ports. They did at one time. I loved the GPS display on the LED when I used the CarPlay connection. Now I get nothing unless it's through Bluetooth.

I had the software in vehicle updated about a month ago to fix a problem and never checked the CarPlay feature since I didn't need it right away. So I'm not sure if it's coincidence or a cause.

Both the USB under the dash and in the center console will charge devices, but won't synch with the device.

Thoughts?

PS I've updated my OS on my phone, and tested new cables.

Update: Just got my car back from the dealership. They said there is a software issue and a patch is being programed by the manufacturer of the stereo. They said I'm suppose to check back (no timeframe given) to see if the patch is available and then schedule a time to bring my car in for the update. Their reason why they can't call me is they are too busy and can't call back everyone. What the heck?

Maybe I'm a bit spoiled, but I always thought that if you (the business) can't fix a problem, you follow up on it and work to reconcile it? Now I've been on hold with Honda Customer Service for 45 minutes waiting to talk to a customer service representative to see if I can find out anything more regarding when I should expect the software patch.

I'm kind of thinking I made a mistake with choosing this vehicle.

I can understand manufacturers having a few bugs here and there since andriod auto and carplay are still relatively new but they could handle their customer service better...

At least now we know that an update is coming. Thanks for posting this up!

If you're waiting for that long to speak to someone, it would seem you should be able to understand why they cannot call each person who has a problem back and tell them the fix is available for the car.
New car with new tech will always have some bugs.
The good thing is they DO fix them unlike some other Mfgs who dont fix them and let you suffer and fix them for the next gen buyer.

As much as that sucks for us, it makes sense on their end since we as the consumer with a product to be fixed will stay on top of when a fix comes out, we want to know about it more than some of their employees want to pass it on to us. The way they probably see it is, it's a waste of time to follow up for something so large of an issue.

Plug in a thumb drive to verify the port works. From there, a charge-only or otherwise low quality cable, or how the USB port on your phone is configured to appear to a host, are both candidates for investigation.

What kind of device are you expecting the car to see/use the phone as? E.g.: Android Auto? CarPlay? USB Mass Storage?

Why has my USB port stopped working in my car?

A failure in the functioning of your car's USB port can usually be traced back to a shortcoming in the hardware or software. Despite how powerful and useful they are, they're more prone to particles getting inside because they're open. As such, food, dust, and other debris can make their way into the port.

Why is my car charging port not working?

If you determine that what you're plugging in isn't the problem, check to see if the fuse for the car's power outlet has blown. A dead fuse for that circuit is the most likely cause, either because of age or because what was previously plugged in was faulty or drew too much current.

Why is my USB port not charging my phone in my car?

If your car USB port isn't charging your phone, the problem could be with the port, the cable, or even the phone. Not all car USB ports are designed to charge phones, or power peripheral devices at all, so there's a chance that you're dealing with that type of situation.
