7 mo ago I've been having a transfer case issues the past few weeks. Dealer said it was the motor, but didn't have the part. I did it myself and same problem. From the beginning I've thought it was the DTCM, or the transfer case control module. I'm going to order one myself since the dealer has been no help, but I'm not sure whether I need to take
it in to get reprogrammed when I swap the new one in? Joined Sep 12, 2009 · 19,610 Posts
The module doesn't need to be programmed. Plug it in, reconnect the negative battery cable, done. The module sometimes is called the Drivetrain Control Module (DTC) What model year again? If you get a C1476-00-TRANSFER CASE CLUTCH POSITION OUT OF RANGE error code after instalation you may have to run the kiss point relearn procedure.
That requires a scan too that can reset the module's non-volatile memory. A replacement module should have that memory cleared, so it should relearn on its own. You may want to do the following after you install the module. Turn the ignition switch on, engine not running

Turn the ignition switch on, engine not running So I installed the module and it got rid of the random actuation problem with the motor clicking. I can also tell, because it isn't stuck in 4HI all the time. Now it won't go into 4 low though, which it had done properly in the past. Any pointers? I don't have an advanced scan tool to use unfortunately. Joined Sep 12, 2009 · 19,610 Posts
You have checked fluid level, right? Some tips here perhaps; QTII Transfer Case Clicking, Stuck in 4Low, Service 4WD...This thread is merged from several threads to consolidate discussion of QTII Transfer Case problems and resolutions. Highly disorganized at this time. I got 2012 Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD Limited 4x4 Last 8 of VIN: CC243820 Info from the tag on the TC: Model: MP3023 ***'Y: 52853665AD SERIAL... www.jeepforum.com Generally if its not the control module or motor, then the transfer case is hanging up and needs to be rebuilt. Although there is a chance the position sensor is bad. Joined Sep 9, 2019 · 27 Posts

I was doing some digging and seems there’s a different part for the QT1 vs QT2 modules? Joined Sep 12, 2009 · 19,610 Posts

Discussion Starter · #8 · 7 mo ago QT1 does not have a control module thats interesting. Either way, there’s a different part that seems to be listed for QTII on the parts site.

I'm leery of MOPAR parts books and on line lookups. So easy to get confused. You should be able to give your VIN to an online parts dealer or a Jeep parts counter and they can tell you what fits. For example, my parts book lists different part number for diesel and RHD and LHD vehicles. What part number did you buy and what numbers are you
seeing. There is a Driveline Control Module that controls the QTII transfer case (sometimes called a Transfer Case Control Module (TCM)). There is an ELSD control module that controls the diff in WK2s with Quadra Drive. There is a Transmission Control Module (TCM) in early model WK2s with the V6 and NAG transmission. The QT1 transfer case is entirely mechanical. No electric controls.

I see moparonlineparts has a lookup parts via VIN tool. I suspect others. Joined Jan 15, 2020 · 3 Posts
About to do this to my 2013 grand. I have that code in my current module. Did not try clearing the memory. Curious if that would help it? Either way hope the new one corrects the issue. Seems stuck in 4x4 and clicks alot

When the Drive Train Control Module (DTCM) is unable to engage the requested range, is sets a C1476-00. Possible causes are: What you are describing sounds more like a jammed up transfer case. But it could be the shift motor, control module, or position sensor... or a harness problem. Read through the thread reference above. If there is a fault, clearing the DTC
won't help. You need a full featured scanner to clear the kiss point value, which probably won't help. Joined Jan 15, 2020 · 3 Posts
Coldcase.. thank you for the quick reply. The jeep drives ok and there are no warning lights. Just the clicking when changing from park, drive, etc like others. I drove it home a few miles without a issue. Just notice it seemed to "bind" when turning sharply around a circle. I hooked up my autel scanner and that code was in the module. I have the
ability to clear the non volatile memory with this scanner. Autel mk808. I did not try that though. I got a new module since reading others issues, and it is an original module in vehicle w 206k miles. The module is coming today so i will see if it fixes the issue. Ill keep you posted.
